See What Piano Can Do For You

Piano has a way of changing how you hear and understand music for all levels of players and musicans. Book a lesson and let’s find out where it takes you.

Personalized Piano Instruction

I’ve taught piano to students of all ages and backgrounds from kids, adults, beginners, and musicians who already play something else and want to understand music more deeply. Every one of them needed something a little different. Some students thrive with structured method books and clear benchmarks. My goal is to pay attention to how you learn and adjust accordingly so you can learn in a manner that keeps you engaged.

PIANO LESSON FAQ

I specialize in teaching beginner to intermediate piano, with an emphasis on fundamentals of note reading, rhythm and posture

I primarily use the Faber Piano Adventure Series. For adult students I use Alfred’s Basic Adult Piano Course

After each lesson, there is usually a designated piece(s) to practice and prepare to play through for the next lesson. This can also include scale, chord and arpeggio practice.

Having a fundamental knowledge of the piano will help you with any other instrument you play, and also lead to a better overall understanding of music.

Somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes a day is helpful for time management and busy schedules.

Outside of method books, I teach some beginning classical repertoire, rock, pop and video game music.

If you already have music or a method book you are working from you can bring that. Otherwise bring a spiral notebook for notes and we will find a book to get you started with.

It is not a prerequisite to starting, since learning to read and interpret standard notation will be a significant part of the lessons.

Any keyboard or piano will work to get started, but something with at least 5 octaves and touch-sensitive keys is preferred.

They work functionally the same way as long as audio and visuals are all in order.
